We’ve talked a lot about this new definitive line of Toy Story toys in the last few months and John Lasseter’s recent video series put an exclamation point on it. I recently got my hands on a few of the new toys and frankly the Lasseter videos don’t do them full justice. The attention to detail on the toys is really staggering (i.e. the boxes they come in are a work of art unto themselves).
Both Woody and Buzz are bigger than I thought they would be. These toys really have some heft and substance. As Lasseter said, they really look like the toys from the films. I love what the Buzz box says (Pulsating Laser Light! High Pressure Space Wings! Multi-Phrase Voice Simulator!), but I do wish it stated “Not a Flying Toy”…It’s quite a treat that Thinkway was able to obtain Tim Allen and Tom Hanks’ voices for the toys, that’s a really nice touch. Buzz, Woody and the Aliens all come with a certificate of authenticity. I really believe that kids will go nuts for these and they are nice collectibles for the grown ups too!
