Rumor Roundup!

There’s been a lot of rumors flying this past week about various Pixar related projects. I would take all of this with a grain of salt. Only time will tell if some (or all) of these come to fruition…

  • Remember that dinosaur production art that was visible in an Up behind the scenes video awhile back? That first still showed Greg Dykstra, this latest uncovered still (see above) shows Up production designer Ricky Nierva and is a much clearer look at a variety of Dinosaurs, insects and a boy…Dying to know if this will be a short film or a feature film…
  • Disney veteran Floyd Norman posted on the Animation Guild Blog comments section that Gary Rydstrom’s 2012 Pixar film, Newt “is dead”. This was subsequently picked up by Upcoming Pixar and many other blogs. That would be a bummer if it’s true, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see…
  • There’s also rumors flying around about Cars 2. Blue Sky Disney is reporting that John Lasseter has been spending a lot of time in Emeryville working on “production issues” and may even assume a co-director role on the film. Again, not confirmed and really nothing to worry about if you ask me.

    i sincerely hope that newt isn’t dead because the plot sounds great and the character looks adorable.
    i’m betting the possible dinosaur project is a short. those pictures look like a project that is too far into the production process for it to be a feature and us have not heard about it yet. could it be the short for toy story 3? will there be a short for toy story 3? no one’s said anything about that

    I hope all of the films work out but i really hope that the dinosaurs are a movie because that sounds like the coolest of all the upcoming movies

    That dino project look great. I was thinking maybe it is a short also, but wouldn’t Ricky Nierva be working on a feature?Anyway, I hope they don’t completely trash Newt, maybe just put it on the back burner.
