- Toy Story 3 officially passed the $1 Billion mark in worldwide box office this weekend. It’s the 2nd Disney film to do so this year (Alice in Wonderland) and is #7 all time at the worldwide box office. Equally impressive is that the film has shattered box office records in Japan and the UK and in many Latin America countries.
- Disney-Pixar has officially withdrawn from the ANNIEs. There’s quotes from Pixar President Ed Catmull, but the Variety article requires a registration, so I’ll link to the recap by Slash Film instead. These animation awards (and how they are voted upon) have caused a bit of controversy over the past few years (especially in 2008 when Kung Fu Panda swept all categories and WALL-E was completely shut out). I’m not an artist or a voter, so I’ll keep my opinions on the subject to myself this time.
- Lastly, a few more auditions (i.e. promos) have been released for Toy Story 3. The latest batch includes Ken & Barbie, Lotso and Ken solo.
