Pixar Bytes: Unkrich on Future Pixar, Vanity Fair & More

  • Lee Unkrich talked with both Hollywood.com and Movie Web. Topics include the making of Toy Story 3 and a few tidbits on the Toy Story shorts, Cars 2, Brave (and director Brenda Chapman) and Monsters, Inc. 2. Nothing too earth shattering, but Lee also confirms that he’s working on a new animated project at Pixar. The “live action” bug that bit Brad Bird and Andrew Stanton has not got a hold of Lee yet.
  • You might want to check out MovieFone’s End of Summer Movie Poll. Toy Story 3 is doing well, but there’s quite a bit of Twilight love going on over there…
  • Vanity Fair shares their list of the 100 Most Influential and the Fab Four at Pixar landed at the #12 spot. Here’s what they said:

12. Brad Bird, Pete Docter, John Lasseter and Andrew Stanton

Stage of Global Conquest: Pixar’s unmatched winning streak Continues. Coming 15 years after the original, Toy Story 3 grossed more than $630 million worldwide in its first month and reduced theaters full of adults to tears. Up next: the Stanton-directed John Carter of Mars (Greg’s note: This is a Disney release, not a Pixar film).

Synergy Watch: As Disney’s chief creative officer, Lasseter has tried to sprinkle “Pixar dust” on numerous Disney projects, including The Princess and the Frog and a set of Tinker Bell direct-to-video releases, but so far nothing has reached the level of success and acclaim of Pixar’s releases.
