Commercials

Creating commercials is an important part of Pixar’s history. In addition, to providing the company income, these commercials helped the staff to hone their skills and build a production team for future shorts/feature films. Amongst the Pixarians that animated or directed commercials include the likes of John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter, Jan Pinkava, Bud Luckey, Bob Peterson, Jeff Pidgeon, Angus MacLane, Doug Sweetland, Glenn McQueen, Craig Good, Scott Clark, Shawn Krause, Galyn Susman, Roger Gould and Andrew Schmidt. Nearly all the commercials were either produced by Ralph Guggenheim, Darla K. Anderson, Karen Robert Jackson, Susan Tatsuno, Kori Rae or Karen Dufilho. Amongst the technical directors were Oren Jacob and Don Schreiter. The commercial division was created in 1989 and officially closed on July 8, 1996. A few McDonald’s commercials (tied into A Bug’s Life and Toy Story 2) were created in 1998 and 2000.
