- Luckey drew all the characters and backgrounds, scored its musical theme on his banjo, wrote its rhyming lyrics and sang them, too.
- Bud told USA Today what his inspiration for the short was. “Growing up in Montana, about the saddest thing I ever saw was a sheep standing in the rain with no wool,” Luckey says in a voice just above a whisper.
- “His voice wraps you up and pulls you in to the storytelling,” said Roger Gould, who co-directed the animated short. “It’s like listening to this kindly old uncle sitting around the campfire telling you this great old tale.”
- Boundin’ was nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Animated Short category.
